Hardware Specifications
This section provides hardware and system requirements for deploying dbWatch Control Center in enterprise environments. Specifications are grouped by role—Control Center Server, Monitoring Engine (inside each database), and Client workstation.
These represent minimum guidelines. For larger deployments or higher monitoring frequency, increased resources are recommended.
Control Center Server Requirements
The Control Center Server is the core of the dbWatch environment. It handles configuration, user access, job scheduling, reporting, and security domains.
- Supported Operating Systems:
- Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
For installation instructions:
Monitoring Engine Requirements (per database instance)
The monitoring engine is deployed into each database and performs local job execution for monitoring, performance analysis, and automation.
- Disk space inside DB instance:
- Minimum: 500 MB
Client Workstation Requirements
The dbWatch Client is a graphical interface for administration and monitoring. It may run on the same host as the server or remotely.
- Supported OS:
- Windows 10 / 11
Remote operation via RDP, SSH (X11), or terminal server is supported.
Security and Deployment Best Practices
For secure and resilient deployment:
- Harden OS with latest patches and minimal services
- Place Monitor Nodes in secure zones near database networks
- Restrict port access between components using firewalls
- Use TLS-encrypted communication (default, managed by internal CA)
- Monitor system performance and audit logs
- Separate dbWatch nodes from unrelated applications
