dbWatch tests and supports upgrades from 11.x or 12.x to 12.x only. If you have an older installation, it is recommended that you remove the old dbWatch installation and schema in the database and install the latest dbWatch release.

Steps for upgrade

Contact dbWatch Support (support@dbwatch.com) to get the latest version of the dbWatch installer. There is also links in the release-notes section of this wiki. Before you start the installer, stop and disable the old service.

Start the installer.

Select the catalog where you want to install dbWatch 12.x. We strongly recommend that this be a different catalog than the original catalog, thus keeping a backup of the old installation.
Click “Next”.

Select the installation catalog of dbWatch version you wish to upgrade.

You are now ready to perform the installation.

The installation should take less then a minute on a normal computer.

The installation has now been completed.

You can choose to start the Server and Monitor automatically.

After the dbWatch Server 11.x connects to all dbWatch Engines you have the possibility of upgrading the individual procedures (dbWatch tasks and alerts). For details on this process see Managing Tasks and Alerts.
