The dbWatch installer can be downloaded here

Step by step installation

Start the program. Depending on your security settings, you may need to run the installer with administrative privileges, as this creates a service on your computer. Choose run as administrator when you run it.
After you do so you will get the following window, where you set the directory where dbWatch will be installed.

If you have a previous installation of dbWatch you will be given a choice of upgrading or installing a fresh version. If you select upgrade, then some of the steps in this guide will be skipped as settings from the previous installation will be used.

Select the installation option you want and click “Next”.

If you just want to install the client software, dbWatch Monitor, you can deselect “Install dbWatch Server” here. Its also possible to change the default port for dbWatch, and configure the service for dbWatch.

If you do not choose to create a service the Server can still be started in console mode. Click “Next” to continue.

If you did not upgrade a previous installation of dbWatch, you will now be prompted for a password for the default super user, “admin”.

This is the window, where you can enter your license key, if you have one. It can also be entered later. If you have no license key, you can still us the software for testing and non-commercial use, for upto 3 database instances. Click “Next” to continue.

Now you get prompted for the license agreement. Make sure you read all the fine print. Make your choice and click next if you accept.

You are now ready to install dbWatch, click “Next”.

The installation should take less then a minute on a normal computer.

The installation has now been completed successfully.

Select “Start dbWatch Monitor” to start directly.

What To Do Next

If you did not start the Monitor directly, you need to manually start it. This is located under “All Programs”->”dbWatch”->”dbWatch Monitor 12.6.1” in the start menu on Windows.

When you start your new dbWatch installation, you will be prompted with the “Add database” wizard. For information about how to add a new database, see the “Add or Remove Database” chapter in this guide.
