dbWatch tests and supports upgrades from 11.x to 12.x only. If you have an older installation, it is recommended that you remove the old dbWatch installation and schema in the database and install the latest dbWatch release.

Steps for upgrade

Contact dbWatch Support (support@dbwatch.com) to get the latest version of the dbWatch installer.

Start the installer.

Select the upgrade option and click “Next”.

Select the installation catalog of dbWatch version you wish to upgrade.

Select the catalog where you want to install dbWatch 11.x. We strongly recommend that this be a different catalog than the original catalog, thus keeping a backup of the old installation.

Select the components you wish to install.

Read and accept the license agreement.

Choose the port that the Server should listen to for incoming Monitor connections on, if a service should be created (and name) and if the Server should attempt to automatically locate database instances, in your network.

You are now ready to perform the installation.

The installation should take less then a minute on a normal computer.

The installation has now been completed.

You can choose to start the Server and Monitor automatically.

After the dbWatch Server 11.x connects to all dbWatch Engines you have the possibility of upgrading the individual procedures (dbWatch tasks and alerts). For details on this process see Managing Tasks and Alerts.
